Advocacy: Your Voice in Legislative and Regulatory Issues
The MRA represents your industry and your restaurant on legislative and regulatory issues that affect your business. We are a statewide, non-profit organization representing the interests of the food & beverage industry, through our strong presence on Beacon Hill.

Networking Events & Fun
The MRA has many networking events and sponsorship opportunities throughout the year, including two Golf Tournaments, an Annual Awards Dinner in conjunction with the New England Food Show in Boston and a Western Mass Awards Dinner to highlight that part of the state, a June Annual Meeting and social event, as well as an Industry Summit, featuring panels, workshops and discussions with industry leaders.

In addition, the MRA co-sponsors events with the National Restaurant Association, other state associations, government agencies, such as the NRA/MRA Hall of Fame Dinner and the MRA's State House Day, for members to tell their legislators what is on their minds.

Enjoy fun, special events affording the perfect opportunity to network with your industry peer group, to celebrate your successes, and to acknowledge and award the Stars of the Industry.

Education & Certification
From professional development programs, seminars, and training materials to ServSafe® AlcoholServSafe® Sanitation certifications recognized by state and local health departments, the MRA provides members with savings and opportunity in educating your team.
Training
In addition to the Alcohol Awareness and Sanitation Training Classes held throughout the state all year long, seminars and workshops are offered, often free, or at a substantial discount to MRA members.

Trade Show
The MRA's New England Food Show (NEFS) is the largest trade show in New England. The NEFS features more than 800 booths of industry related products and services, most offering show specials. In addition, a keynote speaker and full slate of conferences, seminars and workshops is offered with the price of admission.
National Restaurant Association (NRA) Membership
Membership in the MRA includes membership in the NRA, a wealth of research information and resources, including an extensive research library.
MRA "On the Table" Newsletter (printed) & eNewsletters
Monthly printed and electronic newsletters feature the latest news from the restaurant and foodservice industry with informative articles on food allergies, Hepatitis-A, legislative and legal issues such as tip pooling and overtime regulations, as well as meals tax collection charts and other industry info.
Answers to all your questions
Call 800-852-3042 for answers to your business questions. If the professional staff at the MRA does not have the answer, they will have it researched by the MRA's General Counsel. Our aim is to keep you informed of the latest changes. Our legislative department is working continually for you on Beacon Hill with the state legislature and with all the regulatory authorities. BMI Music Licensing: Exclusive MRA Member Discount Program
BMI MRA has made special arrangements for members to save up to 20% on BMI Music License fees for Eating & Drinking Establishments. And now you can save time with BMI's new online licensing and payment systems. Discounts apply to new and renewing MRA members.
  • 5% MRA Membership discount... just for being an MRA member
  • Additional 5% discount for licensing and/or paying online
  • Additional 10% "Timely-Payment" discount for paying your fee within 30 days of invoice

CHUBBS: Employment Practices Liability Insurance
Chubb's ForeFront Portfolio Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) offers MRA members coverage from employment-related exposures, including harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination and retaliation. Chubb's policy insures the member company and its directors, officers, and employees if a claim is brought on by or on behalf of a current, prospective or past employee. It also provides coverage for third-party liability... including claims from your customers.

Coverage responds to many types of claims, not just lawsuits. If there is a covered claim, Chubb pays 100% of defense costs (within the available limits and after payment of any deductible), even if only part of the claim is actually covered. MRA members can register for free trial access to Chubb's "hotline" providing legal guidance. Members review this valuable resource at no charge for 60 days.

Corporate Cost Control: Unemployment Cost Management & Free Hotline
Massachusetts unemployment compensation costs are expected to increase by up to 33% in 2010, and unemployment is a controllable tax. This new benefit is designed to help MRA members manage unemployment costs. From large chain-restaurant organizations to small employers, members now have access to expert services at a significant discount. Plus, members are invited to free advice and instruction by calling a dedicated "Hotline." Corporate Cost Control has a unique depth of experience in the foodservice industry.

GasNetworks: Energy & Cost Saving Solutions
As a valued MRA partner, GasNetworks provides members with an array of energy and cost-saving solutions. GasNetworks offers several commercial and industrial rebate programs designed to help members reduce energy consumption, energy bills, and ultimately, help save the environment. Members are eligible to receive a FREE energy-efficient nozzle ($75 retail value) designed to save your restaurant up to $1,000 in water heating energy, sewer costs and water usage. GasNetworks will also help members schedule energy audits to determine measures that will help you reduce energy and costs. GasNetworks sponsors MRA seminars to keep members informed of solutions.

HSA/MBA Group Health Insurance: Comprehensive Group Health Insurance Programs
This endorsed program focuses on the needs of MRA members providing insurance for 11 or less employees. The program allows members to select from an array of carriers and provides HMO and PPO options. HSA/MBA works with each member to find the insurance plan that works best for them. Plans include:
